A hanging drawer makes sense in three scenarios. First, on adjustable sit-stand desks — a rolling pedestal would interfere with the lifting motion and possibly the anti-collision sensors, so an under-desk hanging drawer is the right way to add small-item storage without compromising the desk function. Second, in hot-desk and shared-workstation setups where every desk needs the same basic storage but you do not want pedestals blocking the leg-space — hanging drawers leave the floor clear so any chair fits under any desk. Third, on reception and concierge desks where a small lockable drawer for cash, keys, and visitor badges is essential but a full pedestal is overkill — the hanging cash drawer is the right scale.
